Visiting Georgia from the Gulf

Georgia has become one of the favourite summer escapes for families from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman: green mountains, cool air, the Black Sea and a short flight from home. This guide covers what you need to know before you travel and how to get around comfortably.

Do you need a visa?

Citizens of the GCC countries can visit Georgia without a visa. Residents of the Gulf with other passports may also be able to enter with a valid Gulf residence permit, depending on their nationality. Rules change, so check the current entry rules for your passport before you book flights.

Travel insurance is now required

Since 1 January 2026, every visitor must have travel health insurance for the whole stay, with at least 30,000 GEL of cover. The policy can be from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, on paper or on your phone, in English or Georgian. Buy it before you fly.
