The best time to visit Georgia

Georgia is small but it holds several climates at once. In May you can stand in snow at 2,200 m in the morning and eat dinner in a warm garden in Tbilisi the same evening. What matters is matching your month to the route.

Winter, December to March

Ski season in Gudauri and Bakuriani, usually from December to April. Tbilisi is cold but lively, hotels are cheaper, and the mountains look their best under snow. The pass to Kazbegi can close for a day after heavy snowfall, so keep the plan flexible.

Spring, April to May

Everything turns green, waterfalls are full and the canyons in the west are at their strongest. A very good time for Kutaisi, Martvili and Okatse. Some high valleys are still closed by snow.

Summer, June to September

The high season. Batumi and the Black Sea are busy and warm, Juta and Truso valleys open, and the mountain meadows are full of flowers. Tbilisi can get hot in July and August, which is why many of our guests head straight up to Kazbegi or Borjomi, where the air stays cool.

Autumn, September to October

Many locals say this is the best month range. The heat softens, the light is golden, and Kakheti fills with the grape harvest and village feasts. Hotels are easier to find than in August.
